Hydroscand Celebrates 20 Years in the UK
On 29th July 2022, it is the anniversary of 20 years since Hydroscand was established in the UK.
To celebrate this exciting milestone, we will be holding open mornings at all our branches from 9am to 1pm on Friday 29th July. Please join us at your local branch on the morning. There will be exclusive anniversary deals, free bacon sandwich and a free gift with every purchase.
Hydroscand UK beginnings
Hydroscand - an international family-owned business - provides solutions and services for hoses, fittings, and related products through a customer-driven and decentralized organisation.
By 2002, Hydroscand was already a very well-established business in Scandinavia, with operations in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, and Estonia. Our founder, Björn Holmström had a long-standing relationship with Europower Hydraulics, having been their Swedish distributor in the early days of building Hydroscand there.
After a change of ownership, the Europower business sold off their branch networks and working with his associate Bob Rofle, initially Hydroscand acquired Europower’s branch in Gloucester.
New Branches and Customers
Over time we have steadily extended our reach to customers in the UK and opened a number of Local Branches.
Our branches are the local focus of providing knowledge and expertise to our customers, not just selling products and many of our branch staff have been with us for many years.
Hydroscand UK Introduces HoseExpress
It is a fact that many hoses are used on mobile machinery and equipment from bulldozers to boats, and tractors to telehandlers, and they can breakdown. So in 2010 we launched our HoseExpress mobile hose repair service in the UK, to put our capability in repairing and making hoses nearer to our customers and to be able to react quickly to problems.
HoseExpress is Hydroscand's mobile service offering for both acute hose replacements and preventative work. With Hydroscand HoseExpress you get fast, professional, and safe service on site.
Central Warehouse
Having quality products in stock is critical to our business and our customers. In 2015 we recognised this and to support our growing business, we set up our central warehouse in Sandiacre, Nottingham. Here we keep 4,500 thousand different products and can get stock to our customers and branches in 24 hours.
Our Business Today
Today we operate from nine branches in the UK, serving customers in industries ranging from agriculture to construction to waste management. Our branches offer ”while you wait” hose replacement. Three of our locations also operate as production centres, manufacturing hose assemblies for OEM customers.
Our Hose Express business has grown to thirty mobile hose workshops providing on-site hose replacement and three ”HoseOnSite” static containers kitted out with hose assembly machinery and stock to suit.
Looking Ahead
We have a growing and dedicated team, who are passionate about serving our customers.
We want to continue to build our business in the UK to be as successful as we are in Scandinavia, where Hydroscand is the customers natural choice for hoses, fittings, and related components, through our innovative services and solutions.
We live in challenging economic times, but as with the last 20 years, as a team we look forward to the next 20 years with energy and passion for what we do.

Our Founder: Björn Holmström
Hydroscand's founder and owner, Björn Holmström, has devoted most of his life to hoses and fittings. He is a person with a strong commitment, who knows what he wants. Today, Björn has the same vision as when he started Hydroscand in Sweden on September 17th 1969, namely to sell hoses and fluid components from a decentralised, customer-oriented organisation.
Björn has been an enthusiastic entrepreneur since childhood and has sold everything from aquarium fish to scarves, before eventually landing in the world of hydraulics and specialising in hoses.
